Our mission

To democratise business communication across Tanzania.

Our mission is to provide every Tanzanian business — regardless of size, location, or industry — with access to fast, reliable, and affordable SMS communication tools. We build technology that works for the entrepreneur in Morogoro just as seamlessly as it works for a national corporation in Dar es Salaam. By lowering barriers to enterprise-grade messaging, we empower local businesses to compete, grow, and serve their customers better.

Our vision

To be the most trusted CPaaS platform in East Africa.

We envision a future where NewHope SMS is the backbone of digital communication for businesses across East Africa — the same way mobile money transformed payments on the continent. We are building the infrastructure, the compliance standards, and the developer ecosystem that will carry Tanzanian businesses into a fully connected digital economy. Our vision extends beyond SMS: we are a technology company at the intersection of reliability, innovation, and impact.

Who we are

A technology company born in Tanzania.

NewHope Technology was founded in Morogoro, Tanzania, by a team of engineers and entrepreneurs who identified a critical gap in the local market: businesses needed a dependable, affordable, and locally-supported SMS platform that understood Tanzanian networks, regulations, and business culture.

Unlike international platforms that treat Tanzania as an afterthought, NewHope SMS was built from the ground up for Tanzanian mobile operators — Vodacom, Airtel, Tigo, Halotel, and TTCL. Our gateway integrations, pricing structure, and compliance framework are all designed with the local context in mind.

Today we serve over 500 businesses including financial institutions, healthcare providers, retailers, schools, NGOs, and government agencies. Our platform processes millions of messages monthly with an average delivery time under three seconds.

Our journey

The story behind NewHope SMS.

2023
Identifying the gap
Our founders observed that most Tanzanian businesses were using expensive, internationally-based SMS providers that lacked local support, offered poor uptime on Tanzanian networks, and were difficult to integrate. The idea for NewHope SMS was born: a platform built specifically for the Tanzanian market, priced for Tanzanian businesses, and supported by a Tanzanian team.
2023
Platform launch
After months of development, compliance preparation, and gateway negotiations, NewHope SMS launched its first production version. The platform offered Bulk SMS, OTP services, and a REST API. Within the first three months, we onboarded our first 50 businesses spanning retail, healthcare, and microfinance sectors across Tanzania.
2024
Scaling across Tanzania
Driven by word-of-mouth and a reputation for reliability, NewHope SMS grew to serve over 200 businesses. We expanded our gateway partnerships to include all five major Tanzanian mobile operators, achieving delivery coverage for over 99% of Tanzanian mobile numbers. Custom Sender ID support and advanced analytics were added to the platform.
2025
Enterprise-grade platform
We rebuilt the platform from the ground up with enterprise architecture: multi-gateway failover, real-time WebSocket delivery status, KYC-verified accounts compliant with TCRA and TRA requirements, volume-based pricing tiers, and a full-featured developer API with OpenAPI documentation. NewHope SMS crossed 500 active business accounts.
2026
Tanzania's trusted messaging platform
Today, NewHope SMS processes millions of messages monthly for businesses across all regions of Tanzania. We continue to invest in infrastructure, compliance, and developer experience. Our sister company, NewHope Technology, extends our mission into custom software development — building websites, mobile applications, and business management systems for Tanzanian enterprises.

What we stand for

Our core values.

Reliability above all

We understand that your business depends on messages being delivered. Every architectural decision we make prioritises uptime and delivery reliability. Our multi-gateway setup with automatic failover ensures that a problem with one provider never affects your customers.

Regulatory integrity

We operate with complete compliance to Tanzania's communications regulatory framework — TCRA, TRA, and the Personal Data Protection Act 2022. Every sender ID on our platform is properly approved, every user is KYC-verified, and every message is sent within the bounds of Tanzanian law.

Radical transparency

No hidden fees, no confusing pricing structures, no unexpected charges. Our volume-based pricing is published openly, our Terms of Service is written in clear language, and our Privacy Policy explains exactly how your data is handled. What you see is what you get.

Local understanding

We are Tanzanian. We understand the business culture, the network operators, the regulatory landscape, and the challenges that come with building technology in East Africa. Our support team speaks both Kiswahili and English, and we are available when you need us most.

Developer excellence

We believe great developer experience leads to great products. Our REST API is clean, well-documented, and built on modern standards. We provide OpenAPI documentation, WebSocket real-time updates, and multiple key types to suit every integration scenario.

Continuous improvement

Technology never stands still, and neither do we. We invest continuously in improving delivery rates, expanding network coverage, reducing latency, and adding features based on customer feedback. Every update makes the platform more powerful and easier to use.

Our promise

Our commitment to every customer.

When you choose NewHope SMS, you are not just buying an API — you are partnering with a team that is genuinely invested in the success of your business. We take that responsibility seriously, and it shapes every decision we make from infrastructure to pricing to customer support.
