Where messages can be delivered

Today, NewHope SMS sends to mobile numbers in Tanzania (numbers beginning +255 6 or +255 7). Numbers from other countries are rejected by the platform; we do not offer delivery to them yet.

Who this is still useful for

✓Companies headquartered elsewhere in Africa that have customers, staff or students in Tanzania.
✓Software vendors and agencies that need an SMS API for their Tanzanian clients.
✓Teams that want one REST API for Tanzanian SMS and OTP and plan to add other countries later, once they are available.

How a developer outside Tanzania can use it

The API is a normal HTTPS REST API with JSON, so it can be called from any country. You create an account, create API keys and send to Tanzanian numbers. See the API documentation for the requests and responses.

What we do not offer

✓No delivery to Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda or any other country at this time.
✓No sender names that work outside Tanzania: Sender IDs are registered for Tanzania.
✓No claim about coverage beyond Tanzania. If that changes, this page will say exactly which countries are added.

Frequently asked questions

Does NewHope SMS deliver SMS across Africa?

No. It delivers to Tanzanian mobile numbers only at the moment.

Can I call the API from outside Tanzania?

Yes. It is a standard HTTPS REST API; the restriction is on the destination numbers, not on where your server is.

Will more countries be added?

We cannot promise that. If countries are added, this page will list them.
